Abstract
Andhra Pradesh, with a coastline of about 1,053 km spanning 12 coastal districts, has a long tradition of marine fishing that has evolved from small-scale artisanal operations to modern, technology-driven fisheries. Over the decades, this transformation has significantly strengthened the marine fisheries sector of the state. Andhra Pradesh presently supports 533 marine fishing villages and 234 marine fish landing centres, reflecting the strong socioeconomic dependence of coastal communities on marine resources (CMFRI-FSI-DoF, 2020).
