Abstract

It was noticed that about 80 to 100 gillnetters from this region have been engaged for mini purse seine operation from October to February every year and 2 to 3 cylinder boats with 24 to 45 Hp are used for this operation at a depth of 8 to 15 m. Deployed towards NW direction, 8 to 15 km away from the landing centre the vessels fetch 3 to 5 tons of S. longiceps catch every day with 2-3 hauls in Jiwna and Bharadkhol-Divegar landing centres.
