Abstract
The inception of the Mandapam Branch of the Zoological Society of India was the happy outcome of a resolution mooted by Dr. N.K. Panikkar on the 24th September 1949, at a meeting of the members of the Zoological Society of India residing in Mandapam Camp and those who were desirous of becoming members.
