Abstract

Exploratory trawl fishing operations were conducted by the Indo-Norwegian Project authorities with Karwar as base from November 1963 to May 1966. Three vessels, namely, Karwar-1, Ml/M4 and INP 167 with 90, 48 and 24 HP engines respectively were commissioned for the purpose. The data collected from these vessels is utilized to show the trawl fishing of the grounds, favourable seasons for trawling, t h e q u a l i t y and distribution of the catch, the catch rate per unit of effort , etc. in time and space
