Abstract
In the recent past shrimp production from farm and hatcheries have declined considerably due to disease out breaks and water quality problems. Farmers were able to control these problems to certain extent with the use of antibiotics and therapeutic agents. Indiscriminate use of antibiotics leads to the development of resistant strains of bacteria . The probiotic approach can be an alternative to these problems and it has immense potential in aquaculture
