    In nature mercury occurs in many forms but among them methyl mercury 1s inore toxic than ail other mercury compounds. Fish tend to accumulate merccry most y ~n the methyl form, and the toxlcity of the fish depends upon the methyl mercLry content in the total mercury The accumulation of mercury can be rapld but elimination is very slow thw accounts for its greater con- centration in the body of the fish than In the surrounding water.
