Abstract
This paper is intended to review the present status of the molluscan resources of our country other than cephalopods and the existing management practices and suggest measures for an effective integrated approach to help in increasing the tempo of exploitation where it is in a low profile and recommend measures for conservation in such cases and areas which need a hard look. Management should be conceived and understood not as a constraint upon natural exploitation but as en essential tool for the sound, sustained development of fisheries Hence, management is an integral part of the developmental process.
