Abstract
Planktonic microorganisms in the global oceans are crucial as the main sustenance for filterfeeding organisms. Hence, the normal proliferation of the plankton species is beneficial for fisheries and aquaculture. Nevertheless, under certain circumstances, algal blooms can result in adverse consequences, leading to significant economic losses in aquaculture, fisheries, and tourism operations. While not all algal blooms are harmful, some produce toxins or other harmful substances that can pose serious threats to various organisms.
