Abstract

This small-sized flatfish has a relatively restricted distribution along the coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is infrequently collected over sandy bottom habitats. It may be a small component of demersal trawl bycatch, however, the penaeid trawl fishery in this region is primarily focused on mud bottoms. There are no other potential major threats to this species or its habitat at this time. Therefore, it is listed as Least Concern.
