Abstract

This small-sized flatfish is known from few specimens collected from the western Mascarenes. It is generally found in nearshore, soft-bottom habitats associated with coral reefs. At Reunion, it has been considered rare with probable declines due to human activities; given the lack of specimens, there is no way of knowing population trends for this species. As habitat information and specific threat information are not available, this species is listed as Data Deficient. Research is needed to determine its geographic distribution and habitat requirements; these data are necessary to help determine the potential impacts of anthropogenic threats.
