Abstract

This small-sized flatfish, as is currently known, has a widespread distribution from East Africa to the central Pacific in shallow water. Despite its distribution, relatively limited information is available regarding its population size or trends. Although it is occasionally found in markets, it typically inhabits soft-bottom habitats associated with coral reefs; as a result, it is unlikely to be a major component of demersal trawl bycatch. However, given its shallow occurrence, it may be impacted by habitat degradation. It is listed as Least Concern.
