Abstract

Seer fish production in India varied from 42,378 t in 2001 to 54,876 t in 1998 with an annual average production of 48,718.8 t, in which, the East coast contribution fluctuated from 17,144 t in 2001 to 23,339 1 in 2000 with a] annual average of 19,101.2 t and formed 39.2% of the all India production. The state-wise seer fish production along the East coast was Tamil Nadu: 47.2%, followed by Andhra Pradesh: 31.096, Orissa: 15.2%, West Bengal: 4.9% and Pondicherry: 1.7%.
