Abstract
A whale shark, Rhineodon typus Smith measuring 4.9 m in total length was landed at Kaveripattinam fish landing centre on 19-6-1996. Tlie fish got entangled in a bag-net, Eda valai operated 7 km north of Kaveripattinam at a depth of 15 m and was brought to the shore by towing.
