Abstract
A southern sunfish, Mola ramsayi, belonging to family Molidae, hitherto not reported from Indian waters, was noticed among mechanized trawlnet catches landed at Chennai Fisheries Harbour on 17.08.2006. It was recorded earlier from Australian, South Africa and English waters only. This male speciemen measured 835 mm, weighing 10.5 kg.
