Abstract
Marine fish production in the country has been in doldrums for the past few years both in the capture and culture fisheries sectors, the former crippled because of undue concentration of fishing effort in the coastal area, mainly in the pursuit of shrimp by trawling day in and day out for about 50 years and the latter mainly plagued by disease of cultured shlimp.
