Abstract

Brown mussel is distributed along the Southwest Coast of India and is much relished by the people along the coastal area. Considering the vast potentials of this resource, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute Carried out a preliminary survey to assess the stock along the coast and also initiated experiments on culturing the mussel at VizhiNjam froIl) 1973 onwards.
