Abstract

Dozens of boats engaged in bottom set gill net fishing (Chinki valai) brought pearl oysters (Pinctada fucata) numbering 200-5.000 on each occasion when they fished at 10-15 F depth in the vicinity of pearl banks at Tuticorin and Tharuvaikulam landing centres.
