Abstract
The Ramamthapuram coast with its long stretch -of coast line has many mud flats, lagoons and estuaries. These ecological niches attract a great variety of coastal birds, some of them come from distant places like Siberia and Chinese coast. Recognizing no national boundaries these birds visit our coast for food as their place of birth becomes too cold from them live. The common among them are the terns and plovers.
