Abstract
India's Five Year Plans are milestones in the country's economic progress for intensive and extensive use of the national resources, manpower and skill. The First Five Year Plan commenced in the fiscal year 1951-52 and at the beginning of this plan period the fish production was of the order of 0.75 million tonnes. The production increased in a phased manner culminating in the current level which is around 2.3 million tonnes.
