Abstract
This article deals with the results of investigations carried out on clam resources and its fishery in the northern part of Vembanad lake. Villorita cyprinoides, locally known as "Karuthakakka" (black clam), Meretrix casta or yellow clam and Paphia malabrica "Poovankakka"are the main clam resources of the area studied.
