Abstract
In agricultural experiments, existing practises or check varieties, referred to as control treatments, are frequently compared to novel varieties or germplasms obtained from exotic or domestic collections, referred to as test treatments. In some circumstances, the amount of experimental material available for test treatments is limited, and in such condition it is impossible to replicate them in the design. However, there is enough material to replicate control treatments in the design. For these kinds of experiments, Augmented Designs prove useful. In a one-way heterogeneity scenario, an augmented design is any conventional design in control treatments that is supplemented with additional (new or test) treatments in complete or incomplete blocks. According to the literature survey, these experiments are typically carried out using an augmented randomised complete block design. In an augmented randomized complete block design, the test treatments are replicated once in the design and control treatments appear exactly once in each block.
