Abstract

The candidate species identified for mariculture includes Cobia, Rachycentroncanadum, Asian sea bass, LatescalcariferSilver/Snubnose pompano, Trachinotusblochii, Indian pompano, T.mookalee, Orange spotted grouper, Epinepheluscoioides, Sea bream, Lethrinuslentjan, etc.The larvae of all these species is carnivorous and feeds on zooplankton such as rotifers or copepods. Hence their seed production technique invariably requires the production of the zooplankton such as rotifers, copepods and artemia among which rotifers are the most widely cultured live feed for the seed production of marine fin fishes.
