    Abstract

    Shrimp with 16% of the total value of internationally traded fishery products (Food and Agriculture Organization, 2009) constitute the major marine resource traded in terms of value. Frozen fish and frozen shrimp are the important marine export items. About 85 species of shrimp are known to exist in Indian waters of which 55 species are reported either as commercially important or having considerable demand in the local as well as international markets.
