Studies at Vizhinjaun show (that Sardinslla gibbosa feed mainly on copapotds, Lucifer and diatoms. From a predmilnaimtly crustacean diet ia the early stages, the fish seems to chang to a diet of crustaceans and phytoplenkton with the attainment of 80mm length. Notes on the variaitions in the food elements, and intensity of feeding, in relation to length and matunity are given. The earlier works on the subject are briefly discussed.
