    Abstract

    The Seychelles Bank lies about 954 km north of Madagascar and 2,490 km south-west of India. Though the islands in the Bank are mostly confined between 4° and 5° S, the Bank extends between Lat. 3° 4' and 7° IS ' S or up to the vicinity of Coetivy Island. The longitudinal extent is from 54° to 57° E. The area of the Bank is about 31,000 sq km and the Bank is within the 100 fathom line
