Abstract
Seaweeds are marine algae, which grow in sea or brackish water. They are non-flowering plants without true roots, stems and leaves, and different from flowering plants, viz. seagrasses. They constitute one of the commercially imponant mariDe-Iiving resources. Seaweeds are divided into green, brown, red and blue-green algae based on the type of pigments, and external and internal structures.
