    Abstract

Tori longitudinales and vavula cerebelli are characteristic features of the teleastean fish brain. Mesial sections of the mesencephalon reveal their specific configuration which can be considered as additional parameter in fish taxonomy. Sibling species can be easily distingu ished by studying the pattern of these structures of the fish brain.
