Abstract

Fisheries sector in India contributes to over Rs.6.000 crores of foreign exchange. It employs about three million people living In 3638 fishing villages in marine capture fisheries and related activities. Thus the sector serves as an important source of employment income generation and a comparatively cheaper source of protein.
