Abstract

Macrobrachium genus is distributed globally across the tropical and sub-tropical regions and comprises over 200 described species. The greatest diversity of Macrobrachium species occurs in the lndo-pacific region, in particular on the Indian sub-continent and through out South East Asia. Macrobrachium prawns inhabit a wide variety of environments from mountain streams and lowland rivers to estuaries and coastal lagoons
