Abstract
The pattern d postlarval occurrence studied during 1973-75 in Koirapuzha estuary near Calicut indicated that M. d~bsorri axd P. indicus are more or less continuous breeders, whereas, the sprwning of M. monoceros seems to take p l ~ e main~ly in the summer months. M. dobsoni has spawning peaks during the monsaon and post-monsoon period whereas the principal peak for P. indicus is in summer or pre-monsoon months. It has {been observed that P. indicus and M. morzoceros occurred mainly in the periods of high saline conditions whb M. dabsoni slhowed a tendency to occur more during the period when the wdter was less saline.
