Abstract

On an average. about 48,850 t of seertishes were landed annually in India during 1998-2002. Of this, West coast contributed 29.088 t and East coast 19,759 t. Along the West coast the seerfish fishery is mainly supported by the king seer. Scomberomorus commerson (17,622 t) and the spotted seer S. guttutus (11,416 t).
