Abstract

There was an unusual fishery of Babylonia spirata along the Pulicat coast during February - March 2006. As a conservative measure, the village Panchayat imposed a ban on this fishery as bulk removal of this particular gastropod resource might result in the decline in the fishery of not only gastropods but also other finfish resources too in the habitat.
