Abstract

The environmental issues hampering the development of aquaculture in India is briefly reviewed. The genesis of conflicts among different stakeholders is analyzed. The concept of social audit in aquaculture industry is introduced. The process by which social audit could catalyze neutralization of factors of conflict and evolve a transparent environment is discussed in the background of the information obtained from a preliminary survey.
