Abstract
Althogh India has not ventured so far to fish in the high seas of the Indian Oecan for tunas and related fishes, intensive fishing for these are at present being carried out in various parts of the Indo-Pacific by many countries such as, Japan, U.S.A., Austrialia, etc. In the Indian Ocean the fishing is done almost exclusively by the Japanese and the main gear used is the long-line.
