Abstract
Green tiger shrimp fishery of Palk Bay – Factsheet (Tamil) Located on the southeastern coast of India, the Gulf of Bagh covers a coastline of about 296 km from Kodiakkarai in Tamil Nadu to Dhanushkodi (9°55 6 10 45 78° 58° to 79° 55° E). The shallow depth and organic-rich sediments of Palk Bay provide an ideal environment for a variety of ecosystems. In particular, it supports the green line shrimp fishery. The green line shrimp, is one of the commercially important species of penaeid shrimp. It is known as the 'Mandapam flower' in the international market.
