Abstract

A whale skeleton, displayed at the Marine Megaphone Museum as part of the open house held at CMFRI, pulled a large crowd. The exhibition was part of the 79th foundation day celebrations of CMFRI. The skeleton belongs to a Bryde's Whale that washed up on the beach in Kozhikode in 2023. The buried skeleton was unearthed with the consent of the state government. The broken parts of the fourteen-meter-long skeleton were reconstructed with the help of wildlife artist Gigi Sam. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Duvvuri Seshagiri, Director of the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory. CMFRI Director, Grinson George, presided over the function.
