Abstract
The Indo-Pacific shallow water species of Sea star, Linckia multifora collected from Mandapam coast reared in research the aquarium has shown fissiparous reproduction. This method of asexual reproduction is called autotomy and this is restricted to a very few species of sea stars. It is achieved by shedding an arm which results in a comet, and this will further develop into a separate sea star with central disc.
