Abstract
Marine macro-algae or the seaweeds are high fetching commodity for the coastal community It is a livelihood for the fishers who reside at the sea-shore besides being an integral biological component for carbon sequestration. The coastal belt and the shallow seas of our country is blessed with diverse species of this valua ble resource the seaweeds. The ecosystem in costal regions is not suitable for agriculture due to the high saline nature, Farmers and fishers, inhabiting in such areas can cultivate these plants-"Coastal Agriculture' and utilize them to sustain their livelihood.
