Abstract
Ocean is a reservoir of millions of flora and fauna; many of which are still unknown to man. Although exploratory surveys are being carried out by many maritime nations on a continuous basis to unravel the species diversity and richness of world oceans; our knowledge of marine biota is very meager. The species unknown to man would be many times more than the species that are known. With technological advancements and improved deepsea exploratory capabilities, our mission to explore the marine environment has been a regular process and many species are being discovered and described every day; some of them even from the abyssal depths.
