Abstract
The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has provided training to officials of the Fisheries Department on data collection of fishing activities in the State. The training would help coordinate data collection, said a press release from the CMFRI here. The participants were trained in estimation of fish landings with a special focus on data collection methods, sampling methodologies, database creation and data validation. During the three-day programme organised by the Fishery Resources Assessment Division, officials from the Fisheries Department were trained on using the stratified multi-stage random sampling design, a methodology developed and used by the CMFRI for years in connection with the estimation of marine fish landings in the country.
