Abstract
As part of sponsoring the education of a girl child from the fishing community every year , Tuna Pillai Fisherfolk Welfare, a trust instituted in memory of late P.P. Pillai, a former scientist at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute by his family, handed over financial assistance to Maya Karthikeyan, a Plus Two student and daughter of K.V. Karthikeyan and K.C. Rekha hailing from Chettuva, Thrissur. At a function held at the CMFRI on Thursday, Padmaja Pillai, wife of the late scientist, handed over the money to Maya, said a press release here.
