Abstract
Tuticorin Research Centre (TRC) of the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) organised a National Fish Farmers’ Day Meet here on Monday. The programme titled “Student, fish farmer and scientist interactive meet on importance of seafood and fish farming” was initiated by I. Jagadis, Principal Scientist, President of Staff Recreation Club, TRC of CMFRI, Tuticorin. The welcome address was given by P. P. Manojkumar, Patron of Staff Recreation Club, TRC of CMFRI. The main objective of the programme was to provide an opportunity to the senior school children to understand the nutritious quality of seafood, options available for fish farming and also encourage them to opt for a study leading to higher education in the field of marine fisheries, a statement said. Totally, 45 students from nine schools and fish farmers from Sippikulam, Keelavaipar and Threspuram took part in the programme.
