    Abstract

The non conventional fishery resources distributed in the coastal and deeper waters of the EEZ offer a promising potential in the Indian Fishery scenario. Of the 1.28 million tonnes of the estimated demersal fishery resources expected within 50 m depth contour, about 82% is currently explOited leaving limited scope for further development (Sudarsan, 1993).
