Abstract

The marine fishery resources of India are considered vast and the VII Plan lays greater emphasis than heretofore to increase marine fish production both for domestic consumption and for e x p o r t s . The Exclusive Economic Zone declared by us extends to 200 nautical miles from the coastline of the mainland and a total sea area of over 2 million sq.km is within our exclusive rights of exploration, exploitation, conservation and management of r e s o u r c e s .
