Abstract
Handbook of Indian Fisheries , which is being brought out on the occasion of the third Annual Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council. in Madras. The development of fisheries is one of the most effective means o f increasing food production. If properly exploited, the supplies are almost inexhaustible. Fish a re , besides, the least expensive source of protein and, as such, are of the highest importance from a nutritional point of view. Inadequate scientific data, old fashioned techniques and depressed condition of the f fishermen have, however, restricted development in the Indo-Pacific region
