A socio - economic analysis of prawn farming in Orissa state

Abstract

The state government has set up the Brackishwater Fisheries Development Agency which is fully responsible for the development of brackish water fisheries in the state. This agency provides technical assistance to the farmers right from the selection of site till harvesting as well as marketing of prawns through the entire duration of culture. The agency also provides inputs including seed, extends extension services and imparts training to prospective farmers.
