Abstract
Marine bidiversity represents a layered complexity of living organisms, ranging from diversity within species to entire ecosystems. It is integral to all dimensions of sustainable development—economic, social, and environmental—supporting the Earth's wellbeing and providing essential services for humanity's health, happiness, and prosperity. Regrettably, human-induced pressures such as overfishing, climate change, invasive species, and pollution have led to a steep decline in marine biodiversity worldwide. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor and evaluate biodiversity across different marine habitats. This evaluation can assist in identifying species, habitats, and communities that are significant due to their rarity, those that serve as biological indicators, or those crucial to local human societies. Such assessments help pinpoint species and areas in need of conservation or restoration efforts.
