    Abstract

    Gonadial abnormalities in Rastrelliger kanagurta (Cuvier, 1817), particularly hermaphroditism has been reported by many authors in the past. In the present observation, out of 37 samples one specimen (220 mm TL and 128 g total weight) landed at Puthiappa Landing Centre by one carrier boat of a ring net on 20-8-2010 had hermaphroditic (ovo-testis) gonad (7 g total wt).
