    Abstract

This small-sized flatfish is relatively widely distributed in the northern Indian Ocean. It is generally found in nearshore, soft-bottom habitats where it is a component of the bycatch of demersal trawl fisheries. The contribution of this species to the bycatch is unknown. It is relatively widely distributed; therefore, this species is listed as Least Concern. However, additional research is needed to determine the contribution of various small-sized flatfishes to the bycatch of trawl fisheries.
