Abstract
Gujarat, with the longest coastline (1,600 km) in the country, over two lakh sq km of EEZ and 1.64 lakh sq km of continental shelf, is one of the leading states in India’s marine fish production. About 65,000 sq km of the EEZ lies in the depth range of 0-50 m while about 1,00,000 sq km lies in the depth range of 50-200 m. The state is the top producer of marine fish in the country, accounting for 23.5% of the overall landings in 2005-06.
